Goitstock Falls, Cullingworth, West Yorkshire
A short, child-friendly walk near Cullingworth, Bradford, West Yorkshire:
Length: 1.5 miles
Pushchair Friendly? No – walk takes in gates, stiles, steps, paths laced with tree roots
The Walk: A simple walk which takes you quickly away from the bustle. Taking in a pleasant hamlet, the shady edges of the fields, valley woodland and with the final reveal of a couple of small but impressive waterfalls.
Parking: Park at the end of Greenside Lane, being mindful of local residents’ access to Hallas Lane (https://goo.gl/maps/fiDvys6pwbKPewtN7). If taking the bus (67 from Keighley), get off at the Cullingworth War Memorial and walk down Greenside Lane (this adds an extra 0.4 miles each way to the length of the walk).
The Details: From Greenside Lane take a left, bearing roughly east, down Hallas Lane. Continue until the lane becomes a path and follow the hill down into the valley.
Cross the wooden bridge, pass the Hallas Mill gardens on your right and take the small flight of steps up where the signpost is.
Walk up the lane with garages/parking spaces on your left and bear left along the track in front of the row of terraced houses towards the 5 bar gate which is the entrance to someone’s property. Go through this gate and cross the driveway/yard and climb the steps (to the right of another gateway into the woodland) and over the stile into the field.
Walk along the edge of the fields, crossing/going through four stiles/small gateways.
In the fifth field you enter you will see a makeshift gate through the wall/fencing into the woodland. Go through this gate and continue down the (fairly steep) path through the woodland until you come to the valley bottom where Harden Beck flows.

Turn left (bearing south-west) and follow the path through Goitstock Wood until you get to the first waterfall. Climb the metal steps to the left of the plunge pool and continue to follow the path to the second waterfall.
Continue following the path, which gets very uneven due to tree roots, until you get back to the wooden bridge you crossed near the start of the walk. Retrace your steps back up to Hallas Lane, returning to Greenside Lane to finish.
