About Little Legs Walks

Why Little Legs Walks? Little Legs Walks was born out of the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown in the UK. As a family we had always enjoyed walking together, but the allowance of an hour's daily exercise being the only time we were allowed out of the house all together gave rise to a desire to find new and different places to walk. Some of the walks featured on this blog will be from the time when driving somewhere else to exercise wasn't permitted, others will be from after that restriction was lifted. Although we have completed longer walks in the past, particularly ones on mountains such as Ingleborough, Cadair Idris and Cnicht, our daily walks needed to be a little shorter - we often wanted something we could do between meals i.e. in a morning or an afternoon. With children ages 9, 8 and 6 the walks couldn't be too long as they generally move at a slower pace - often stopping to smell the roses, literally and metaphorically. Goitstock Falls, Cullingworth, West Yorkshire

No – walk takes in gates, stiles, steps, paths laced with tree roots The Walk: A simple walk which takes you quickly away from the bustle. Taking in a pleasant hamlet, the shady edges of the fields, valley woodland and with the final reveal of a couple of small but impressive waterfalls. If taking the bus ( 67 from Keighley ), get off at the Cullingworth War Memorial and walk down Greenside Lane (this adds an extra 0.4 miles each way to the length of the walk). A short, child-friendly walk near Haworth and Oxenhope, Bradford, West Yorkshire: Length: 1.5 miles Pushchair Friendly? No – walk takes in gates, stiles, railway crossings, rough/narrow paths The Walk: A walk that quickly takes you away from roads and gets you into some nicely varying countryside. Steam railway fans will enjoy getting close-up views of the locomotives and walking across the railway (check the KWVR timetables if you want to ensure a sighting and avoid being hit). Film buffs will recognise The Three Chimneys from the 1970s The Railway Children film. There are opportunities for splashing in the beck and plenty of picturesque places to sit for a picnic (but bring a rug as there is only one bench during the walk).
